Reid prefers to surf finless boards. No fins, no friction, no problems. He shapes all his own boards as well. Which probably goes without saying because there aren't a whole lot of shapers making what he's looking for. He approaches his shaping as a form of sculpture; slowly cutting away at masses of foam until all that's left is what he needs. Then it's to the sea to let them free.
