drama queen

ft. Caity Simmers

Drama Queen is like what most of Toast Media’s pieces that have been put out so far. It is by youth and for youth. For a generation that missed  the initial run of surf blogs in the 2010’s. Towing the fine line between avant garde and a lack of quality control. It feels like youth. Excited and unplanned. Gathered footage after the fact. It feels like a short, coffee fueled conversation with a nineteen-year old. I’m not sure if nineteen-year old’s drink coffee.

Caity Simmers is one of the best things to happen to surfing in a long time. So is her desire to compete on the world tour while actively trying to put out edits. Her music choices are top tier and the raw feeling of an edit like ‘drama queen’ is refreshing in contrast to the overly produced edits coming from other members in the world tour ranks. Shaky handy cams are a novelty to a generation that never had to rely on them exclusively to record their memories.

Toasted Media as a whole feel like a true view of how this group sees surfing. Young, fresh eyes  are sometimes needed when everything seems so unexciting.

Also, Caity’s brother rips too.
